The Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth has become an increasingly desirable and highly collectible modern classic, and examples presenting to this standard are becoming extremely difficult to find.
This particular example has spent a period of its life in storage and arrived with us as an exceptionally original and largely standard car. The only notable modification already fitted was a high-quality 3-inch stainless-steel exhaust system. Despite the larger-bore system, the car is not excessively loud and retains the character and tone expected of a Cosworth.
£5,000 Recently Invested
During our ownership, we have invested approximately £5,000 into carefully selected mechanical and cosmetic improvements, with the intention of enhancing the appearance and driving experience without taking away from the originality of the car.
A brand-new, fully adjustable coilover suspension system has recently been purchased from Burton Power and fitted to the vehicle, allowing adjustment of the ride height by up to approximately 60mm.
We also sourced a genuine-style set of highly desirable 16-inch Escort RS Cosworth alloy wheels. Rather than simply refurbishing them locally, the wheels were entrusted to the renowned Lepsons, where they were professionally refurbished in the correct-style Ford Sparkle Silver finish. They have completely transformed the stance and appearance of the car while remaining entirely in keeping with the period.
Importantly for the collector, we have retained the car’s original 15-inch lattice alloy wheels and original suspension set-up, which can be supplied with the vehicle if required.
The Charcoal Black Recaro leather interior has also undergone professional treatment and recolouring, resulting in an interior that now presents exceptionally well.
Recent Mechanical Maintenance
At approximately 76,900 miles, the car received further maintenance including:
Oil & filter change | Air filter replacement | New spark plugs | Timing belt replacement | Fuel pump replacement | Fuel filter replacement | Fuel pressure regulator valve replacement
The history and paperwork accompanying the vehicle also records significant further expenditure and mechanical work, including:
Gearbox rebuild | Replacement turbocharger | New fuel tank | New fuel pump | New distributor cap | New clutch | New clutch cable | New speedometer cable
This gives the next owner the benefit of a number of important and potentially costly components having already received attention.

Condition
As the photographs demonstrate, this Sapphire RS Cosworth presents in superb condition for its age and mileage.
The bodywork is exceptionally straight and the Magenta Mica paintwork has a superb depth and finish. The vehicle has benefited from a full repaint at some stage during the last few years, and the overall presentation is outstanding.
The body is remarkably clean with no visible rust, while the refreshed Recaro interior, refurbished Cosworth wheels and lowered stance make this an exceptionally striking example.
Mechanically, the Cosworth engine runs quietly and smoothly, pulls extremely well and performs exactly as we would expect. We believe the vehicle remains at approximately factory power output, rather than having been subjected to the significant engine modifications commonly found on these cars.
With just 76,933 miles, six former keepers, desirable Magenta Mica paintwork, extensive recent mechanical expenditure, tasteful reversible upgrades and the original wheels and suspension retained, this is an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a very special example of one of Ford’s most iconic performance saloons.
We genuinely believe it would be extremely difficult to find another Sapphire RS Cosworth presenting to this standard.
A superb, highly collectible and increasingly rare example of the legendary Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 2WD.
